Urban Transport: 30 buses Launched on Route 28


Thirty buses, received from the Turkish Company recently, have started running on the Allama Iqbal International Airport to Valencia Town route (No 28) from Thursday.
The launch ceremony was presided over by Lahore Transport Company (LTC) Chairman Khwaja Ahmad Hassaan. Passengers won’t  be charged fares on the first four days of the service.
Addressing the ceremony, the chairman said, “The provision of these air conditioned buses would give strong impetus in facilitating the people using public transport.”
Binamin, chairman of Albayrak , the Turkish company, and LTC Chief Executive Officer Khwaja Haider Latif also spoke at the event.Lahore Transport Company Vice Chairman Mehar Ishtiaq, Transport Secretary Capt (retired) Muhammad Yousaf, General Manager (Communication and Marketing) Amjad Hussain, Lahore Waste Management Company Management Director Waseem Ajmal, Deputy General Manager (Operations) Tanvir Siddiqi and Manager (Operations) Huma Daha were also present.
Hassan said that the provision of efficient and affordable transport was an integral part of the government’s urban transport policy.
He said that despite of the fact that the country was passing through a critical time from the security and economic point of view, foreign investment was increasing in urban transport sector.
He said that the international and local transport companies had their complete confidence in the Lahore Transport Company and the Punjab government by virtue of reforms introduced in urban transport sector. He said that the difficult task of providing efficient and affordable transport facilities have become easy primarily because of the efforts and dedication of the Lahore Transport Company officials.
He said the Turkish investing were playing a vital role in strengthening the socio economic development of the Punjab.
Binyamin said his company had decided to undertake the projects to serve the people of Pakistan and not with a profit motive. He said he would be happy to initiate more projects in Pakistan.
The Lahore Transport Company chief executive officer said that the company had been making efforts in providing high-standard transport on this route.
He said he was happy that finally the goal had been achieved with the help and assistance of the Turkish brothers.

It is very strange that Route is restricted to Model town Link Road instead of VALENCIA.
